COVID-19 Framework

WCWBC Framework for Return to Play in a COVID-Safe Environment

This framework sets out the requirements that must be met by all bowlers wanting to return to bowls organised by the Weston Creek Women’s Bowling Club.  It has been developed with due consideration to the BOWLS ACT FRAMEWORK FOR RETURN TO PLAY IN A COVID-SAFE ENVIRONMENT: STAGE 3 and Bowls Australia COVID-19: RETURN TO BOWLS TOOLKIT.
Use of Weston Creek Labor Club facilities is governed by the Canberra Labor Club Group COVID-19 Plan and must be adhered to in conjunction with this framework.

Weston Creek Women’s Bowling Club recognises there are members of the bowling community who are at greater risk in relation to COVID-19 because of age or underlying medical conditions.
Those most at risk are:

  • people aged 70 years and over;
  • people aged 65 years and over with chronic medical conditions;
  • people with compromised immune systems; and
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 50 with one or more chronic medical conditions.

If you are at greater risk, please consider carefully whether you should be bowling at this time.

Practice, Social and Championship bowls

Greens may be used for practice, social bowls and championships, subject to the following requirements.

Keep your distance

A distance of at least 1.5m is to be maintained between persons on a green, in the area around that green and elsewhere on club grounds and premises (including carparks).

Pay close attention to hygiene

  • Do not practice or play if you are unwell and leave the club if you begin to feel unwell.
  • Hand hygiene is particularly important, including washing hands before and after bowling. Our Club will have hand sanitisers available to be used by bowlers on entry to, and exit from the premises as well as pre, post and during games.
  • Avoid physical contact.
  • Mats and jacks are to be cleaned after each game.
  • Skips/Markers are to position the jack using their foot.
  • Do not share personal equipment such as cleaning cloths, towels, and drink bottles. Please do not pick up any bowls but your own.

Communication

This framework will be displayed at the club and on our Facebook page.
